During various times in our lives, each one of us have been faced with the all too familiar choice of seeking solace in the world, or seeking Christ and His design. This is a situation Don and Patsy Akin are all too familiar with. In a testimony spanning the course of 59 years of marriage, we realize how important that choice can be in the face of grief again, again… and again.
Even though Don and Patsy understood that as believers trouble would come, would they learn to take heart knowing Jesus overcame the world? Listen to this week’s episode as we visit a story of hope, joy, grief, forgiveness, recovery, community and love; all with Jesus right by their side.
For Marilyn, life was going well. After knowing the Lord at a young age, being blessed with a supportive family, then going off to college and meeting a nice boy and great friends - life was certainly checking off all of her boxes. Little did Marilyn know, grief was coming upon her, and she would be faced with the tough question: is God still faithful, even in the dark?
Listen to Marilyn tell the story of learning to trust God in despair - again. Even in dark chapters, God's promises remain. In fact, God can use our grief as a catalyst to know Christ more intimately. Marilyn saw firsthand the results of being faithful through Him, and how our God is most certainly a God of abundance.
Even though Nikki Boyd grew up in church, it wasn’t until early adulthood that Jesus showed her what it meant to truly surrender. As she was maturing in her walk, she understood that Jesus isn’t just the Savior, but He is Lord. With a passion for song and a heart full of Jesus, she began a journey giving her life to the Lord through music, and then children's ministry. But, what if there was more God needed to teach her? What if she had to wait in order to see her role in building God's Kingdom?
Listen, as we unpack a children’s minister’s story full of intercession, lessons in waiting, trials, the birth of Ramp 56, and more. Nikki reflects back on the purpose in each season through the lens of a faithful witness to God's Kingdom work.
With a God-given entrepreneurial spirit, a 9-year-old partnered with God as God turned a tiny lemonade stand into a massive, non-profit enterprise through little Johnny Crater. However, God wasn’t going to lose his partner to the lust of the world, so He interceded by waking Johnny up. It was time for God to show Johnny who is the branch, and WHO is the vine.
After pointing Johnny back to Him, God continued to perform blessings and miracles in Johnny’s life. As God’s plan unfolded, He walked Johnny through marriage, ministry, tragedy, loss, and community - reminding Johnny that when things don’t go the way you think they should, God is still in control.
